3 Tips to Teach Your Daugther to Love Her Natural Hair

In a noisy world driven by images on social media that often times don't depict the Curly Girl in the majestic light that she deserves, some mothers are challenged to instill self love and the true value of being yourself to their precious daughters. Most moms know the importance of doing this, because many grew up with the "creamy crack" (relaxers), and have only recently embraced wearing their natural hair.

Our little princesses don't understand curl patterns, texture, density, or (the big one) shrinkage. We must help them to see how unique their own textures are, and how to embrace what they were naturally gifted. Every texture has its own personality and does something unique. We must explore with them all the beautiful possibilities of their hair.

Here are a few tips to help you along the way while teaching your little ladies to love their natural hair:

1. Show Her How Unique Her Hair is

Instead of telling her what she can't do with her hair, take the time to invest and learn what her hair needs to thrive. Teach her that her hair is it's best when it it healthy. And then, show her all the unique possibilities she has with her hair. Hype it up and make her feel special!

2. Create the Vision

Time to whip out those scissors, crayons, and makers. Kids are amazing, and process information sometimes better visually. Grab those hair magazine and cut away. Creating a vision board all about natural hair and beauty may cause the paradigm shift you are looking for. Make sure it's beautiful and includes people that look just like her. Hang it up in her room as a beautiful work of art that she will appreciate!

3. Be Her Hair Hero

Our first impression often times is what sticks with us long term. If you truly believe in her embracing her natural beauty, you should be her first example of that. If you are wearing your hair straight or in extensions often, how do you expect for her to buy into the idea of loving her own hair, if she doesn't first see you do the same. Its ok to mix it up sometimes, but you should be leading by example and teaching her through YOUR own personal experience. Be the SHERO she

needs!

I Hope that these tips are helpful and with help your angels love the original version of themselves!
