We meet so many clients that aren't keeping up with trimming the splitting ends of their hair. Many come to us that have not seen any growth in years, and are simply afraid to apply shears to their hair. But, I must tell you that the very reason that they aren't trimming their hair, (because it seems to not grow) is the exact reason they need a trim (the ends are splitting). Simply put, its not seeing growth because the ends are splitting. Addressing split ends is an important part of hair growth. And if you'd like to see progress in this category....... you MUST keep your ends trimmed regularly.
If you find it difficult to tell when its time to trim the ends of your hair, these 4 signs may be a big help.
1. Detangling is an absolute nightmare and struggle!
GIRL OMG! This is a big one. If the process of detangling becomes more difficult and you struggle to get the comb through the ends of your hair, it may be time for a trim. Major tangles, especially at the ends of your hair, and breakage are MAJOR indicators that you are well overdue.
2. No Length Retention
Have you been doing everything to help your hair to grow and it seems to have paused at one length? The ends are possibly breaking off at the same pace, or as fast as it grows from the scalp. This may be why you hair reach a plateau and you're struggling to gain those precious inches.
3. Your Coils Have Lost Their Pop
If your coils went from luscious to limp, its probably time to do a trim. Straggly ends weight the hair down and prevent it from forming complete beautiful spirals. If you haven't damaged your coills with chemicals or heat, and they are lifeless, they may have a weight (splitting ends) obstructing its ability form ringlets.

4. Ends Feel Dry and Rough
When you take down your flattwist or rod sets, are your ends frizzy? It this may be that silent indicator you need to give your ends some special attention. Nourished hair has a smooth soft feel throughout the length of the hair. Take a feel right now. Do your ends feel drier than the rest of your hair?
When trimming the ends is put on the back burned for a long time, that simple trim can turn into a major hair cuts. Split ends when left alone will travel up the hair shaft, wreaking havoc on completely healthy hair. It's like a growing fire that has to be completely put out.
Remember , even texture of hair on the planet has to get a trim. Their are no exceptions to the rules. So, when was your last time?
